Level B - LGSW (Licensed Graduate Social Worker) License

Overview:

The graduate level license is issued to an applicant who holds a master's degree in social work (MSW) from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited social work program, has passed the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Intermediate level state social work exam, and has submitted the appropriate application and fee. If the applicant is, or has ever been licensed in another state as a social worker, verification of licensure in good standing is required from the applicable State Social Work Board(s). There are no experience or supervision requirements for this level of license.

§30-30-13. Scope of practice for a Licensed Graduate Social Worker.

A licensed graduate social worker may perform all duties within the scope of practice of a licensed social worker and provisional social worker as well as:

  1. (1) Appropriately conduct social work education, formally teaching social work theory and methodology to bachelor's and master's level social work students.

  2. (2) Conduct clinical or psychotherapeutic services, under the clinical supervision of another experienced and credentialed behavioral health professional, including individual, family and group methodologies.
