Certified Providers

We appreciate the interest of your organization in becoming a Certified Provider of Continuing Social Work Education in West Virginia.

Becoming a Certified Provider allows an agency to establish and conduct programs under their own auspices without prior approval from the Board. A unique number will be granted to the newly-approved Certified Provider and will be posted on the Board web site as well as included in the paper listing distributed to all new licensees.

To qualify for this status, the organization must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Organization must provide a social work setting whose continuing social work education programs meet the criteria established within WVBSW legislative rules and policies.
  • Your agency must have offered at least three individually approved social work programs that accumulate to no less than thirty (30) contact hours within the previous twenty-four (24) month period prior to making this application. The thirty (30) hours must have been approved for Social Work credit via the Individually Approved Provider procedure through the Board’s Continuing Education Committee.

Once approved, Certified Providers must complete and submit the Certified Provider Six Month Activity Report each six months detailing program activity within the State of WV.

For complete details, please see the  Continuing Education Provider Policies & Procedures.

If your Agency has met the requirements to apply for Certified Provider status, contact the Board Office so that we may send you the correct application. You may contact the Board via email, fax or mail:
