Inactive License Status (for Regular Licensees ONLY):
Inactive License Status Application:
For regular actively licensed social workers in good standing who
have ceased practice of social work in West Virginia for an undetermined
period of time. Applying for Inactive status will protect the active
license from expiration and loss. An “actively licensed” social worker
is one with a license that has not expired or has expired but is still
under the sixty-day post-expiration grace period. If the renewal
“grace period” has ended, this privilege is not available. The
approved inactive applicant may apply to reactivate the license in the
future.
To apply for Inactive Status:
To apply for Inactive Status, you may request an application from the
Board office by fax, phone, email, or mail. We will then mail you the
Inactive application; you will receive a written response within ten
business days following receipt of your application.
*Not available to Temporary Licensed Social
Workers.
To Reactivate an Inactive Status License:
Only for those who previously applied and were approved for Inactive
Status License. Please send a request to the Board office by e-mail,
fax, phone or mail and we will send you an application to reactivate
your license within 5 business days. Once this is completed and the
appropriate fee is enclosed with the application, we will reactivate
your social work license.
*Not available to Temporary Licensed Social
Workers.
Completed applications must be mailed to the Board office:
