Introduction for Continuing Education Providers:

West Virginia offers two (2) classifications for social work continuing education providers:

• Individually Approved Providers are granted approval to offer licensure credit only on an individual program-by-program basis.
• Certified Providers are allowed to establish and conduct programs under their own auspices without prior approval from the Board.

Home Study / Internet Continuing Education Programs

Currently, West Virginia does not grant "approved" license credit for programs that are offered without the ability of monitoring and interaction between presenter/trainer and audience. This is a source of self-study continuing education that may be used by the licensee under a separate non-approved category.
